Hello folks!
My name is Joe, I play guitar in Otto Von Walmart and we love Surreal Sound Studio. Below are my top 5 favorite things about SSS:
5: That face, painted black at the top of the stair way - baby doll toy? Ancient relic? Beats me but I look at it every damn time I walk downstairs.
4: Guitar strings in the vending machines. So much more useful than SNICKERS!
3: The stage room - I heard a sorcerer cast a spell on it so it feels just like the stage at Madison Square Garden. True story.
2: The beeping downstairs - What does it mean!? It means we're about to go make a fun racket. After practicing there for months it's got the opposite feeling from my alarm clock.
1: The Staff - always friendly to put up with our bulldarts when we forget a drum key, felts, picks, lasers, straps or wires. You guys are great.

Oh, Joe, you are funny. A couple corrections, though:
5) it is an actual human face. 4) Have you tried the guitar strings? They taste like Snickers. 3)You are right about the stage, but it was a Aleister Crowley, kind of a sorcerer, but not really. 2) the beep is actually a ticking bomb, surreal is set on self-destruct, but can't tell you when. sorry. 1) the staff are actually humanoid robots. ask chris where he was born, i betcha he couldn't tell you.

Hey, Dave here, my band Blind Man's Fate has practiced at Surreal for at least 2 years since Ive been in the band, and another year or 2 before that. We currently have a monthly room in the Red Hall, and love our space. Some of my favorite things about the spot; its hard to narrow down, but off the top of my head, the games available. Ping Pong, Pool table, and Foosball, fun stuff to do between breaks. The weekly manager Chris is awesome, very attentive to detail and a cool guy overall. Ive also been working here on Saturdays & Sundays since March/April 2011, so I see & hear a lot of different bands come in & out. Punk, funk, indie rock, soul, metal, hardcore, and everything in between. I love having a monthly room, Im usually there at least 4-5 days a week hanging out, playing music, and just roaming around talking to other musicians. Overall, Surreal is a great rehearsal spot, and a cool place to meet new bands and set up contacts.
